FAMILY MEDICINE

  • A family medicine physician has received training in pediatric medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, psychiatry, radiology, ophthalmology, urology, geriatrics, and other medical fields.

    Some of the conditions treated by our physicians include:

  • Lab work. To analyze blood, urine, stool, sputum, saliva, sweat, tissue, semen, cerebrospinal fluid, bone marrow, and amniotic fluid.
     

    Vision tests. To screen for potential vision problems and eye disorders.
     

    Family planning. May involve a breast exam, pelvic exam, and abdominal exam for women to check for lumps or painful areas, and a genital exam for men.
     

    Chronic disease management. Screenings and testing, routine check-ups, medication review, and therapy.

    Physical examinations. To review the patient’s medical history; take samples of blood, plasma, or urine; check vital signs, evaluate a patient’s overall health, and note signs of illness.
     

    Preventative health. To screen for alcohol misuse, abnormal blood pressure, colorectal cancer, diabetes, Hepatitis B, HIV, lung cancer, obesity, syphilis, tobacco use, and tuberculosis; provide STI prevention counseling and discuss immunization.


    Radiology imaging. To identify and diagnose a range of conditions using X-rays.

  • Patients experiencing chronic pain may be treated with soft tissue injections, such as nerve blocksepidural injectionspiriformis injections, sacroiliac joint injections, and trigger point injections. Patients should speak to their physician to find out if they are a good candidate for joint and soft tissue injections.

    Pain management techniques can help patients minimize pain through cold and heat therapy, gentle exercise, progressive muscle relaxation, acupuncture, cognitive behavior therapy, physical therapy, massage, yoga, deep breathing exercises, biofeedback, music therapy, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication. Depending on the location and type of pain, patients will receive a customized pain management plan.

  • Severe illness and injury may require advanced treatment that may include chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy, and even surgery. Premier Urgent Care supports patients needing a range of treatments. Staff is available to answer any questions about obtaining advanced treatment.
